The energy price cap is falling by £117 because of choices made in the last budget.
Our team at WHLabour is proud that the national Labour party is prioritising tackling the cost of living top tackle the volatility we are experiencing since the Iran war started.
The UK did not start this war and has not joined the war; since it broke out, our Chancellor has been clear-eyed about her duty to keep costs down for the public.
In response to Trump’s action on Iran, this government is accelerating fixed-price renewable contracts to shield UK energy prices from volatile gas costs.
A significant share of renewable generation – about 30% of Britain’s power supply – is still exposed to wholesale prices set by gas, leaving families vulnerable when international prices rise.

To shield families from future crises, our government has set out new measures to ‘break the link’ and reduce the impact that volatile gas prices have on the price of electricity.

More households will also be helped to save money on bills through plug-in solar panels as our Labour government vows to go further and faster on clean, renewable energy in response to conflict in the Middle East.

This conflict is yet another reminder that the only route to UK energy security is to end dependence on fossil fuel markets, and to accelerate the drive for clean, homegrown power, as well as new renewables and nuclear.

Labour is prioritising keeping our bills down.
