Friends, it is with tremendous sadness that we report the recent passing of our former Chair and friend, Graham Beevers.
Graham joined our CLP during a time of great change for the party and quickly became our Chair. His calm stewardship, his unwavering commitment to putting members’ rights first, and his willingness to embrace new ideas were key to the success we were able to build upon thereafter.
Graham’s friendly and welcoming nature, along with his ability to host important conversations on sometimes difficult issues, was a tremendous asset to the local party. He had a remarkable gift for bringing new members onboard and putting them at ease with the sometimes, unfamiliar workings of the party.
Graham’s incredibly generous support, including the use of the famous red campaign bus, allowed us to operate at a level that simply wouldn’t have been possible without him.
Beyond his political contributions, Graham found joy in exploring the world, studying history, and following the thrills of Formula 1 racing.
His energy and determination to take part in party business, even during times of poor health, spoke volumes of his dedication and spirit.
With a smile, a thoughtful word, and the quiet determination that made such a lasting impact, he exemplified what it means to serve a community with heart.
We hope to soon share details of a memorial service, where members will have the opportunity to come together, honour Graham’s memory, and say their farewells in the company of friends and comrades.
Our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy go out to Sheila and all of Graham’s family during this difficult time.
