Andrew Lewin, Labour MP for Welwyn Hatfield, has launched a petition to introduce a new GP surgery for Panshanger!
Andrew said:
“In 2024 Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council approved plans to build 860 new homes on the site of the old Panshanger Aerodrome. Every housing developer has an obligation to make a contribution towards social infrastructure when they obtain planning consent for new homes.
Bellway (the developer) has committed to providing a two-form primary school, but I am also calling on Bellway and the NHS to provide a permanent site for a new GP surgery as well.
The population of Welwyn Garden City increased by over 3000 in the period between the 2011 and 2023 census, and the population in the borough rose by 9,000 in the same period. It is projected to grow by a further 19% in the next 15 years.
I have already raised this issue with Bellway and the local NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB). I now need your help to demonstrate local public support for a new GP surgery.
If you think Panshanger needs a new GP, sign and share my petition.”
